ROck CHIP REPAIR

Rock-chip repair is intended to strengthen the damaged area and reduce the likelihood of further cracking. Although most repairs are successful, the appearance and structural results cannot be guaranteed. 

1. Existing Damage 

The customer acknowledges that a rock chip means the windshield has already been damaged and structurally weakened. Damage may extend beneath the surface or beyond what can be seen during the initial inspection. 

2. Risk of Cracking 

Repair requires pressure, suction, and, in some cases, drilling or controlled heating. Despite reasonable care and proper repair procedures, the chip may spread or the windshield may crack during the repair or afterward. 

Cracking can also result from: 

• The size, depth, age, or location of the original damage; 

• Damage near an edge or an existing crack; 

• Moisture, dirt, or contamination inside the chip; 

• Previous repair attempts; 

• Existing stress in the glass or vehicle body; 

• Rapid temperature changes, defrosting, heating, or cooling; 

• Road vibration, impacts, or vehicle movement; or 

• Defects or damage that were not reasonably visible before work began. 

3. Appearance of the Repair 

The purpose of a rock-chip repair is to improve the strength of the damaged area—not necessarily to make the chip disappear. After repair, a blemish, outline, discoloration, reflection, or small visible mark may remain. The amount of cosmetic improvement will vary. 

4. Repair Outcome 

A repair may not prevent the windshield from cracking in the future. If the chip cannot be successfully repaired, or if the damage spreads, windshield replacement may be necessary. 

5. Responsibility for Unavoidable Damage 

Provided that the repair is performed with reasonable care and in accordance with normal industry practices, Crystal Glass is not responsible for the cost of replacing a windshield that cracks or becomes unsuitable for continued repair because of the pre-existing damage or the inherent risks described in this policy. 

Nothing in this policy excludes responsibility for damage directly caused by negligent workmanship or conduct by Crystal Glass. 

6. Replacement Credit  

If the windshield cracks during the attempted repair or the repair fails, Crystal Glass will: 

• Credit the amount paid for the rock-chip repair toward a replacement windshield purchased from Crystal Glass 

Any credit applies only to the same vehicle and windshield. 

7. Repair Warranty 

If the repaired chip spreads from the original repair point, Crystal Glass will re-attempt the repair at no charge / refund the repair price / credit the repair price toward replacement. 

This warranty does not cover new impacts, damage originating from another location, vandalism, accidents, body flex, extreme temperature changes, or other damage unrelated to the original repair.
